Cruz Ramirez (voiced by Cristela Alonzo ) is Lightning's trainer and technician at the Rust-eze Racing Center.

Lightning convinces Sterling to give him a chance at winning the Florida 500. After watching Lightning's poor performance on the racing simulator, Sterling attempts to convince him to retire and become a brand. Sterling assigns Cruz Ramirez to train Lightning and prepare him for the Florida 500.

Sterling Burnish (voiced by Nathan Fillion ) is one of the main antagonists of Cars 3.

Mack arrives in Radiator Springs after Doc Hudson reveals Lightning's location. As a result, Mack falls asleep and, distracted by a group of teenage tuner cars who attempt to push him off the road to the shoulder, losing Lightning in the process. One night, Lightning convinces Mack to drive through the night to his tiebreaker race with Chick Hicks and The King in Los Angeles, despite federal DOT regulations which legally grant Mack ten hours daily of much-needed off-duty rest.
